the word Congratulations outlined in bright green.clip art of band instruments and the word BandWe would like to congratulate Mr. Harris, band director, and the students in the Titan band program.  NCIMS had 23 students audition and make the all-county band this year.  This is a significant increase from last year.  To audition, students have to memorize six of their major scales and chromatic.  Then, they have to sight-read, which is where an excerpt of music is placed in front of them that they have never seen before, and they are given 45 seconds to look at it before attempting to play it.  All-county band is very competitive in our county, and it is a great honor to be selected.  Congratulations to our young musicians on this accomplishment!

Fazoli's OrdersIn an effort to make it more manageable for parents to attend Curriculum Night on Thursday, November 15, we are offering take-out plates from Fazoli’s on a pre-order basis.  This will take the dinner pressure off of parents and allow you to join us for this meaningful event.  All proceeds from the dinner sales will go to Reading Rocks.

We will be collecting pre-orders for dinners from November 2, through November 13.  Dinners will be delivered to NCIMS after Curriculum Night on Thursday, November 15.

Families must order and pay for their dinners in advance, then will pick them up at the end of Curriculum night by the front entrance.

images of book cavers by Kathryn ErskineAuthor Kathryn Erskine will be visiting NCIMS on Thursday, October 18.  Students who purchase her books will get to attend a Meet and Greet with Kathryn Erskine where they will have the opportunity to get their books signed by the author.*  *Students must have their books at school on October 18, 2018, in order to have them signed.

Students will be reading and discussing books by Kathryn Erskine in their ELA and media classes, so it would benefit the students to have their own copies on hand for classwork/homework.  Mockingbird is also one of the books on this year’s middle school Battle of the Books list!
