The Titan Ambassadors and Student Government Association from New Century International Middle School attended the Break the Chains of Child Abuse Event at the Crown Coliseum last month. This was to kick off April’s Child Abuse Prevention Month in Cumberland County Schools. Our student leaders had a great time visiting representatives from the Fayetteville community to collect information and learn about child abuse awareness and prevention. They planted pinwheels around the Crown Coliseum flag pole and in front of NCIMS to commemorate the event and help make our community aware of the Child Abuse Awareness Campaign. Thank you to The Child Advocacy Center and CCS for sponsoring the event!

Students and staff at New Century International Middle School have been bringing in soda tabs to help pay off library overdue fees since January.  Mrs. Sands, NCIMS Media Coordinator, offers students ten cents towards their library overdue fees for each tab they bring in.  Students who don’t have fees of their own are encouraged to bring in tabs to apply towards other students’ debts.  In fact, one eighth grader, Austin M., brought in enough soda tabs to cover all of the overdue fees for the whole school at that time.  NCIMS Custodian, Chad Slade, also contributed to the cause by bringing in gallon jugs full of tabs that his family had been collecting.
