Over 29% of students enrolled in Cumberland County Schools are Military-Connected Students.  Visual arts is one method to allow children to communicate their feelings.  In honor of Month of the Military Child, CCS Student Support Services sponsored an art contest to afford them an opportunity to share their experiences as Military-Connected Students.  The theme of the contest is “A Life Lesson I Have Learned as a Military-Connected Student.”

With the encouragement of our art teacher, Ms. Lisa Wilson, NCIMS 7th grader, Hennessy L., won first place in the county middle school category.  She was presented with a certificate from Mr. Howard Lattimore, our Military Family and Youth Liaison.  Hennessy also won a $75.00 Barnes & Nobles gift card, a Defy Gravity pass, a movie pass, and golf pass.
